The creative genius from Germany, Markus Voglreiter has created two amazing buildings in Salzburg, Austria - Auto Residence, and another one is its sister project ‘The Car’. Former is a house while the latter is a bar and restaurant. However, both buildings have one thing in common: their design structure. And the most conspicuous thing is – you can easily make it out in first sight as to what their structure is based on. Yes, it’s Volkswagen Beetle.
The whole process of making this VW Beetle house and restaurant started almost a decade ago and was completed in 2003 and 2007 respectively. Both the structures feature car-dork details like suspension-themed interior columns, exterior “tires,” and headlight-shaped windows. The VW Beetle shape restaurant, however, is located north of Salzburg and cost a staggering €1.6 million to build.
